OPENING CEREMONIES

    Friday, November 3rd

    7:30 p.m.

    The Pavilion, Villanova University

 

Athletes should report to the Pavilion for staging at 7:00p.  Spectators, family and VIPs should also arrive at 7:00p.  Please have the two athletes designated as "banner carriers" report to staging by 7:00p to pick up your county's banner.

 

It is very important that athletes follow the instructions of the volunteers concerning seating.  Please assist us in directing your athletes to their seats as quickly as possible so that they may enjoy the full duration of the Ceremonies

 

Tentative Schedule:

  • Welcome by Festival Director Danica Feustel

  • Cheerleaders kick-off and introduce emcee John Clark from NBC-10

  • Parade of Athletes

  • Color Guard, National Anthem

  • Invocation by Villanova President, Rev. Peter Donohue, O.S.A.

  • Global Messenger Ian Anderson

  • Guest Speaker - former Philadelphia Eagle Bill Bergey

  • Sovereign Bank check presentation with Jim Lynch and Al Senavitis

  • Guest Speaker - Cecil Martin

  • Athletes' Oath/Officials' Oath/Coaches' Oath - with Miss Pennsylvania

  • Award of Valor introduction with Miss Pennsylvania

  • Villanova Dance Team

  • Guest Speaker - John J. Swanick of SMART

  • Lighting of the Olympic Torch

  • Games declared OPEN

  • Villanova Cheerleaders

  • Closing Remarks

 


PARADE

    Saturday, November 4th

    7:30 p.m.

    Outside Dougherty Hall, Villanova University

 

All delegations are required to report to "The Oreo" which is located between Dougherty Hall and the Connelly Center by 7:00p.  The parade route will proceed from the Oreo through "The Quad" (located between Sullivan & Sheehan Halls), cross Ithan Ave. on the north end of Bartley Hall, and terminate in the Pavilion for the Victory Dance.

 

Those who wish to be spectators and not participate in the parade are asked to gather at the Main Entrance to the University (located between Bartley Hall and the Student Health Center) at 7:30p so as to cross Ithan Ave. with the parade participants.

 

Locker rooms will be available for any teams finishing competition late on Saturday so that they can prepare for the dance.

 


VICTORY DANCE

    Saturday, November 4th

    8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    The Pavilion, Villanova University

 

This year's dance features DJ Dave Cipriano!  Heads of Delegations, Coaches, and Athletes are reminded that credentials MUST be worn at all times.  There will be a "Rock & Roll" theme!

 

Family members and guests must register prior to the dance at the family/volunteer registration tables located in the lobby of the Pavilion.  Nametags/credentials must be worn at all times.


MOVIE - "High School Musical"

    Saturday, November 4th

    8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    Bartley Hall Room 1011, Villanova University

 

Those who don't like to dance or would prefer a quiet evening activity, come to the movies!

 


 

CLOSING CEREMONIES

    Sunday, November 5th

    1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

    The Pavilion, Villanova University

 

Closing Ceremonies will celebrate all the achievements of Fall Festival and commence at 1:00p in the Pavilion.  Proceedings will be as follows:

  • Announcements of Delegations with Parade of Champions

  • Speaker - Villanova Basketball Players Will Sheridan and Mike Nardi

  • Entertainment: Wildcat Dancers

  • Weekend Highlight Video

  • Closing Remarks

 

Special Olympics Pennsylvania provides year-round sports training and competition for over 26,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  The organization offers over 300 local events and three major statewide event- Winter Games, Summer Games, and the Fall Festival - in 23 sports with the opportunity for athletes to advance to regional and international competition.
