"Unleash the Competition!"
For the 17th consecutive year, Villanova University hosted
the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Festival on November 11-13, 2005.
Over 1,000 athletes and 350 coaches from 34 counties participated in the
statewide competition that served as the qualifying event for the 2007 World
Games. Over 2,500 volunteers from the Villanova student
body as well as the surrounding community served as officials, athlete escorts
and award presenters, as well as to provide administrative support services.
For the first time, Villanova also proudly hosted the Special Olympics
Pennsylvania National Games Training Camp for athletes that will be
participating in the 2006 National Summer Games in Ames, Iowa.
Participants attending training sessions throughout the weekend in Aquatics,
Athletics, Basketball, Bowling, Golf, Gymnastics, Softball and Tennis.
The Fall Festival was hosted and organized by Villanova University students and
once again was the largest student-run Special Olympics event in the nation.
