1. Safeer asked Mohammad to
recite Tilawat ul Quran
2. Mohammad recited Surah Iklas
3. Safeer thanked everybody for their involvement and participation with Islamic
Awareness Week. The speakers were very grateful to Villanova MSA sponsoring this
event.
4. The Omani students were very pleased with MSL night as Safeer indicated with
the Qaseedah recited by high school student Owais Syed. Celina Perlas,
Entertainment Chair said that Villanova MSA is a small organization, but a very
influential one and she thanked us as we thanked her for our participation.
5. Safeer updated our collection that we raised during Islamic Awareness Week.
We raised a total of $1270.00 and a total of $3000.00 for the entire year. It
goes to show you how a Catholic University like Villanova cares about the Muslim
population encouraging them to do events so that they can proliferate the
knowledge of Islam to all students. We are entirely grateful as an organization
to Villanova University
6. Asad said there were no further updates on our collection, but indicating
that we may have some money left over.
7. The Activities chair Waleed Shah was not able to attend, but Safeer updated
on the collection for Chinar during the week of Islamic Awareness and MSL Night
bringing to a total of $150.00 for a complete total of $500.00 for the entire
year.
8. Safeer updated them on our involvement with an upcoming event called Chinar
Basketball Tournament in which we want to raise money for the orphanage in
Kashmir. The event will be held on Saturday April 9 2005 from 10am-4pm. Collections
will be at Student Development starting the week of March 29 2005. A team of
three will register and donate $10.00 and play. The winning team will receive
some prizes.
9. Safeer informed the General body about a table to be set up next in which
Bobby will take care of it. Times for availability for Asad is Monday Wednesday
Thursday and Friday. For Mohammad, it is Tuesday and for Nameer Bhatti it is
Monday as he informed the General body that he is busy the rest of the days.
10. The update on public relations is that a newsletter will be going in soon
and stories should be submitted. Asma will contact us for information.
11. Safeer will ask Waleed to give Bobby all the Arab and Islamic Studies
professors names to join our email list.
12. The Omani students will be meeting this week on Friday to discuss their
issues
13. Our new webmaster Christopher Byrnes has kindly updated the website.
14. Safeer informed the General Body about a dance a thon to raise money that
will be held according to Asad on April 9
2005.
15. The meeting was concluded with a remark: “ENJOY YOUR BREAK, ASSALAMU ALAKIUM”
