1. Asad confirmed that along with Mohammad and Samer,
he will volunteer to help with Food Fest on February 11th from 10
P.M to 2 A.M; they will serve baklava.
2. Safeer submitted a proposal for $4,700 in funds for
the Wachovia Service Grant in order to develop a program to introduce
motivated inner-city youth to the college process.
3. The financial statistics of the MSA budget were
updated by Treasurer Asad Safdar
4. Safeer set the deadline of program development for
this year’s Islamic Awareness Week (March 14-17) to February 8th,
2005. The tentative plan prepared in today’s meeting includes a lecture of
Introduction to Islam by Missionary Haneef on Monday, a lecture on the
Communal Aspects of Islam, Christianity and Judaism by Dr. Inati and a
lecture of a Brief History and Overview of the Holy Qu’ran by Dr.Omran on
Tuesday, a lecture on Evolution and Islam by Dr. Erfani on Wednesday, and
finally, in collaboration with Rosemont College, a lecture about Feminism in
Islam by a yet-to-be announced Rosemont speaker.
6. Safeer reported that Public Relations Coordinator
Asma Chaudhry had finished the Newsletter, which will be online shortly
after webmaster Abolhassan uploads it, and the members have agreed to
collectively print 1000 copies of the MSA Newsletter for distribution
7. Safeer has announced that the Interfaith Retreat
which was scheduled to take place during February 4-6 (this weekend) has
waived the previous cost of $45 to attend.
