Meeting Minutes

General Body Meeting (November 22, 2004)

ATTENDANCE:

Safeer Bhatti, President

Waleed Shah, Activities Chair

Bobby Reddy, Secretary

Imran Punekar, Vice President

Aisha Haynes, Member

1. Imran Punekar began the meeting with a recitation of the Holy Quran reciting Surah Fateh.

2. Safeer thanked everybody’s involvement and contribution to the Ramadhan dinner

3. Safeer thanked everyone who came to the MSA bowling with Rosemont; he informed that he missed Bobby Reddy

4. Safeer said he spoke with Saima Khan the president of Rosemont MSA about collaborative efforts for future events such as Islamic Awareness Week

5. Waleed suggested that we should do something with all the nearby four schools

6. Waleed told bobby to contact Asma about Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Rosemont and Swarthmore about events

7. Safeer indicated that we took off a great start this year and need to continue events. Each Executive Board member will be responsible of conducting at least one event before Islamic Awareness Week. Islamic Awareness Week does not count

8. Safeer mentioned that some can do events with other organizations on campus, conduct events with Samosa, do educational events, do skits, anything that relates to MSA.

9. Safeer decided that the Islamic Awareness Week was going to be held on March 21-25^th. We will have a intro to Islam, Jesus and Moses in Islam, the Wednesday will be a collaborative effort with Rosemont, Thursday, we have womens rights and we conclude on Friday with a dinner at the conference center.

`10.It was agreed that we need funds for this week and need to raise a lot of money next semester.

11. Waleed, the activities chair updated the general body on its collection for Chinar and stated that we collected near $300.00 in two weeks and need $45,000 for a total of $75,000 to make a home for the orphans.

12. Waleed informed the General Body that Samosa may be willing to help us out.

13. Safeer stated that we need to get Chinar to be part of Hunger Awareness Week next year contacting Joyce Zachariah

14. Waleed updated everyone on our expenses and our budget

15. We received an update from Asma through email that the Heifer project was underway. She has placed jars around campus. The MSA newsletter is coming along and she is contacting MSA schools.

16. The meeting was adjourned with an announcement that a Executive Board meeting will be reconvened after the General body meeting
